처음에는 애초에 처음으로 first 달라요 영어로 by 빨간모자샘

처음에는 좀 어색했어.

애초에 내가 실수를 했어

걔를 고등학교 때 처음 만났어

내가 먼저 말을 꺼냈어

난 혼자서 해외 여행을 혼자 하는게 처음이야

 

 

 

처음이다는 표현이 다양한 상황 속에서 있네요. 이 표현이 영어에서는 참 문맥에 따라 다양하네요.

넘 깊이 들어가지는 말고 이런 상황에서는 꼭 제대로 쓰도록 해요.

1. AT first

처음에는 좀 어색했어

At first it was a little awkward.(at first)

 

I wasn't interested in that at first.

 

At first it was a little hard( difficult).

but it was OK once(after) I got used to it.

 

 

2. in the first place 

to begin with

 

 

애초에 내가 확인을 제대로 안했어.

I didn't check properly in the first place.

I didn't check properly to begin with.

 

 

 

내가 애초에 말을 꺼내지 말았어야 했어

I shouldn't have brought it up in the first place.

I shouldn't have mentioned it to begin with.

 

 

3. first 먼저

 

개가 먼저 말을 꺼냈어

He brought it up first.

 

걔가 먼저 나를 쳤어

He hit me first

 

내가 먼저 물었잖아.

I asked you first.

 

  

 

4. for the first time 처음으로

 

그녀를 처음으로 직접 만났어.

I met her in person for the first time.

I met her for the first time  in person.

 

 

 

걔네 사귀고 첨 싸웠어.

They had an argument (fight) for the first time  sine they started dating (going out/ seeing eath other).

 

 

 

나 운전면허증 따고나서 처음으로 혼자 운전했어.

I drove by myself  for the first time since I got my driver's licence.

 

 

5.~ 을 하는 것이 처음이다

It's my + first time + ing

 

 

cf) It's my + first time + to 동사

It was my first time going on stage. 무대서는 것이 처음이었어.

 

 

뉘앙스 차이를 아직은 잘 모르겠더라구요. (나중에 다시 공부하자!)

It was my first time to go on stage. 무대에 서게 되는 것이 처음이었어.

 

<주의사항>

It was the first time + I 'm traveling by myself.

It's the first tiem I'm going to drive by myself.

(현재형)               (미래형)

It's going to be the first time I drive by myself.

(미래형)                           (현재형)

 앞과 뒤절에  현재형 , 미래형 조합으로 사용하되, 미래형 앞뒤로 사용하면 안됨.

 

 

 

<예문>

I felt it was a little scared at first.

I 've never experied something like that.

That was my first time giving a lecture on Korean.

I made some mistakes to begin with during class.

But now I 'm somewhat relieved. I know how to proceed my class.
